Thanksgiving Greetings - TSTR #36

Monday, Monday.......and it's another fun challenge from The Shabby Tea Room. This week's hostess is our lovely Lisa who has chosen an oh so yummy inspirational photo, and has asked you all to make a card using colors from photo, and include what you are thankful for in your card. Our sponsor this week is Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, and oh boy.....I would love to compete for this prize!

Now.....I designed this card based off of Lisa's color scheme, and certainly with my little Grandson, Trevor Patrick in mind. This is our first Thanksgiving with him, and I can't tell you how thankful I am for that. I tell him everyday he is "Grandma's little angel" and he is! He will be 10 months this week, and every day I marvel in how much he has grown, all the little achievements he has made from clapping, blowing kisses, waving bye-bye, crawling, etc. His personality is taking shape and I can see that he is a little dare-devil (like his Daddy), is quite humerous and know's how to get his way with me! ;) So, I would say that I am thankful for such a wonderful family and our little addition this year!

DP's are from Basic Grey, vintage image from Crafty Secrets, paper flowers from Prima, twine and cardstock from PTI, decorative pin from Maya Road misc. buttons, paper doily and shabby seam binding.

Thanks for taking a peek - now head on over to my Shabby GF's blogs to see what lovely inspiration they have for you this week! Have a great week and see you next Monday! Cathy xx :)

Once again, I used my Big Bloom Poinsettia stamp set. I can't get enough of this wonderful set! I also know that in less than a month, it will go back up on my shelf until next year! :(

I handstamped the Poinsettia image in Avocado Green (PTI) and inked it in with a Q-tip using Vintage Cream (PTI). Glitter, rhinestone adhesives and sentiment were then added.

Off to post my card - thanks for taking a peek and have a wonderful evening! Cathy xx :)

Season's Greetings - WMSC #22 and CP#89

Well, it's the end of another weekend. Why do weekends go so quickly and the work week seems to drag? Maybe, it's because I can't spend my days creating! :(

This card was created based off of two sketches this week - a very rare occasion! My interpretation for the two was basically the same - I just added leaves for WMSC and stuck to the three objects for CP's.

DP's from TPC Studio, cardstock and ink from PTI, Copics, misc. pearl adhesives, and last but not least......all rubberstamped images from Waltzing Mouse Stamps. I finally broke them out and ooooh, I just love them! :) Sentiment - Complements of The Season, Poinsettia's - Big Bloom Poinsettia, Victorian Trim - Victorian Frippery. Claire just released several new stamp sets and they are just gorgeous - be sure to take a peek. :)

Well, off to post my card - thank you for looking and have a great week! Cathy xx :)

Christmas Note - Mojo Monday #163

Happy Saturday! It has been a cold and windy day here in Chicago and it feels so good to be in my warm little studio creating Christmas cards tonight! :)

This card was created based off of this week's sketch at Mojo Monday. I tried to keep this as "clean and simple" as I could, but for those who know me......it was tough! :)

DP's used are from Melissa Frances, grosgrain ribbon, buttons, snowflake stamp/die and sentiment from PTI, Kraft envelope from Maya Road, misc. rhinestone adhesives and baker's twine.

Thanks for taking a peek - enjoy the rest of your weekend! Keep warm - Cathy xx :)

5 cent snowballs - WMSC #21 and EBTKS #26

Happy "hump day"! It feels like it should be Friday already! Colder temps are moving into Chicago tonight and they are predicting snow flurries for tomorrow! Yuck! :)

This week, the designers joining the JustRite design team are the Flower Soft and The Shabby Tea Room challenge blog design teams! So mark your calendars for Wednesdays at 9am Central for great Christmas gift, card & project ideas, starting at the JustRite Inspiration blog!

DP's used are from Jillibean Soup - Christmas Chestnut Soup line - aren't they adorable? My card measures approximately 5.5(h)x4(w) and has several layers that have been machine stitched and inked. The first layer is my plain cardtock from PTI; second layer is my DP that has been machine stitched with a straight stitch and inked. The heart was traced from a chipboard heart that I had, and adhered with gluedots. I then added my twine (PTI) and topped it off with a button from PTI. Now for my sentiment.....stamps used are from JustRite - Hearts Come Home 2" Square. The first layer I stamped in Dark Chocolate(PTI) and colored in the festive lights with R29 Lipstick Red Copic Marker adding just a touch of Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter 86. Angel Dust. The next layer is just a square of DP and the top layer is the sentiment handstamped in Pure Poppy (PTI). The final touch......more buttons and twine (PTI).

~friend~ WMSC #20

Happy Tuesday to you! :) We had one of the most wicked storms in history today in Chicago! They (weathermen), are now calling it, the "Chi-cyclone". There are tree's down, electric outages, fires, etc. Luckily, we escaped all harm! :)

While all of the above was going on........I am just recovering from a weekend of nasty flu and thought it was time to design a card! So off to my studio I went, and designed this card based off of this week's sketch at Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge. :) I am telling you........the DT never disappoints - such beautiful designs! I applaude you all! :)

DP's used are from MME and Pink Paislee. Diecut frame from Spellbinders (Labels Four), stamp from Waltzing Mouse, glitter, pearl adhesives, twine and handstamped sentiment from PTI, and this gorgeous flower from Pink Paislee as well, but I decided it was lacking something, so I added some glitter to the edges. If anyone has a trick that they wish to share on adding glitter such as I did, please let me know. This took me forever!!

Thanks for taking a peek - off to post my card. Have a lovely evening - Cathy xx :)

Welcome Fall - PTI September Blog Hop Challenge and MOJO 157

Hello fellow hoppers..........this card was created based off of this week's sketch at MOJO Monday and PTI's September Challenge, where we are to create a project using one of our favorite learned skills from a fellow stamper.

Although, I have never met or spoke with my stamping idol, I know you will all know who I am referring to. She has a unique style all of her own, one that by just looking at her work, you know who designed it. Her art is one that truly speaks for itself - a passion for paper, a love for her family, and life. Her creations capture all things beautiful...bringing together all different types of elements that rejoice in beautiful harmony. Someone once said that "an artist's work is a peek into their soul". Yep....you guessed it, Melissa Phillips. :) I have always been inspired by Melissa's beautiful creations and recognize that although our styles are somewhat different that when people see my work they too will see the love that goes into each of my pieces. :)

Thank's so much for stopping by and taking a peek - enjoy your evening! Cathy xx :)

fall - CCCB #23

Yes...........more pumpkins! I can't seem to get enough of them! I love fall - the cool crisp air, the magnificent colors, the change in our family menu (chili, soups, etc.) - I just don't like the weather that follows - ugh! :)

This card was created based off of this weeks challenge at City Crafter. I haven't played along for quite sometime and when I checked out what was the challenge this week, it was a sketch! I love playing with sketches, so I thought what better time than this week to jump back in.

Happy Monday and welcome to another fun challenge at The Shabby Tea Room! :) This weeks challenge, you have been given a photo for inspiration and asked to design a card or project featuring nature and/or something green. Embellish Paper Piercing Challenge

What a beautiful day it was here in Chicago - 70's and sunny! I wish that this was what our winters were like! :)

This card was created based off of Embellish Magazines Paper Piercing Colors Challenge and for inspiration not only wonderful work by the DT, but beautiful photo's taken at CHA. I love that linen dress! :)

Cardstock, button and twine are from PTI, ribbon from Offray, color from Copics, misc. paper doily and pearl adhesives. The rubberstamped seed packet.....unfortunately, I threw the packaging away and I can't remember who I purchased these from.

I had this rubberstamp for sometime and have yet to use it. So, I decided to blow off the dust and give it a go. I "ghost stitched" the Kraft cardstock giving the card a framed look and used a scalloped stitch on the yellow polka dot paper. Once my papers were stitched, down went the paper doily, then my stamped seed pack image, ribbon and last but not least....button and twine.

Off to post my card - have a wonderful evening! Cathy xx :)

A little birdie told me...Mojo #155

Mojo Monday - that's a Monday like today when you got your "mojo" going! :) That only happens for me when I have a Monday off......which doesn't happen too often. Isn't it nice when holidays fall on Mondays? Come on Lotto! :)

This card was designed off of this week's sketch at Mojo Monday. The designed called for a tag which was to be attached to the bow. Hmmmm, I thought.........why go with an ordinary tag? Why not go with something different. So.......keeping with the theme of my card, I decided to take my ordinary tag and turn it into a birdhouse.

DP's are from October Afternoon, paper lace from BasicGrey, stamp set from Impression Obsession, twine from PTI, misc., pearl adhesives, rhinestone adhesives, glitter, ink and shabby seam binding ribbon.

Off to post my card......I hope you had a wonderful day filled with all things you are unable to do on an average Monday! Thanks for taking a peek! Cathy xx :)
